408pp. Green cloth-covered boards, subject's signature in gilt on front, gilt titles on spine. Bumped spine ends and corners. Stains and wear to covers. Binding a bit loose. Top text block edge stained, outer foxing, bottom untrimmed. Signed and inscribed on front free endpaper, 'For G. Thorpe from Gladys Scott Thomson Feb. 1940'. Remnants of sticker to rear paste down else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Dust jacket has some shelf wear, light chipping to edges, mirrors book damage, price unclipped. 8vo. Record based upon the household papers - account books, bills and letters - handled by the officials and servants of William Russell, fifth Earl and first Duke of Bedford which reveals the great variety of information that this type of historical source contains.
