376pp. Green cloth-covered boards, gilt titles on front and spine. Bumped spine ends. Cocked. Maps on endpapers. Signs of thumbing on early pages. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Dust jacket has shelf wear, 8cm closed tear at rear spin head and 3cm closed tear top corner of rear. Chipping to top edges, mirrors book damage. . 4to. Regarded as the standard reference work as the author extends his interest beyond the copious colour illustrations to include examples illustrated in other readily available sources.
