First edition, first impression (stated). xiv, 200pp, colour plate frontispiece, numerous further black and white plate illustrations. In red cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine. Maps on endpapers. 8vo. Ripple in cloth on verso, very gently rubbed on corners. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight throughout. In its original, price clipped dust jacket (gently bumped along edges, tiny nick at head of spine). From the beam of Terracht lighthouse to the foghorn of Muckle Flugga; from the Dingle Penisula of County Kerry to the headland of Hermaness in Shetland, the extremities are compelling, and Vivian Bird explores them, searching beyond the obvious to celebrate the places he loves most in the world.
