First edition. xviii, 238pp, black and white photographic frontispiece, eleven black and white photographic plates. Blue cloth-covered boards; pink titles on spine; top edge sprayed red. 12mo. Sun-faded spine and boards, wear and some light staining to boards. Lightly rubbed spine ends, reader's creases. colour on top text block edge fading, all edges tanning and starting to fox. Free endpapers just starting to fox and tan. Previous owner's name on front free endpaper. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight.
The story of the author's childhood dream become reality: flying from England to India. 'With the help of a friend [in March 1932] ... I set about securing a pilot's licence. In April I got hold of the Puss Moth, G-AAVA. In May, I passed my flying tests. In June we opened our official partnership in the King's Cup Air Race, and in October we left for Madras, with a free month in the jungle hunting tigers, promised ... as an incentive to arrive intact.'
