1st ed, 1st imp. 218pp. Red cloth boards (worn and faded on edges and joints). Lending sheet on front free endpaper, no other library markings. A little thumbed, occasional spotting. In its original dust jacket by J Pollack (rubbed and chipped at edges, spine crease, light shelf wear). Antique dealer-cum-hero, the Baron, is shot while showing some diamonds in his Mayfair shop, and lies injured in hospital.
