xxii, 398pp, with plate portrait frontispiece and 12 further colour plate illustrations, and occasional page decorations. Bound full red leather with stamped initials and extensive gilt decorations, seven raised bands on spine, again with gilt decorations and gilt lettering on black spine labels, decorative red and gold head and tail bands. All edges gilt. Silk moire endpapers, golden satin ribbon marker bound in. Printed on archival quality paper, especially milled for this edition. The frontispiece - a portrait of Austen - is from a painting by Lawrence Beall Smith, specially commissioned by The Easton Press for its 100 Greatest Books Ever Written series edition of Pride and Prejudice. 8vo. The is a short, faint shadow line on the fore edge, else without flaw throughout. A very handsome, finely bound volume. With a publisher's preface and introductory essay by Frank Swinnerton.
