Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original dust jacket, lightly rubbed at edges. An examination of the changes in society from the mid 17th century to immediately prior to the first world war in Kent, focussing on the fields of the church and its parish work, the expansion of educational provision, the operation of the old and new poor laws and the impact of epidemics which led to the improvement of public sanitation and water supplies.
