A biography of the Irish illustrator and artist, Hugh Thomson best known for his pen-and-ink illustrators of the works of authors such as Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and J M Barrie. Thomson established the Cranford School of Illustration with the reissue in 1891 of Macmillan's Cranford by Mrs Gaskell.
