First edition, first printing. xxii, 574pp, illustrated with maps, tables etc, and one fold-out chart. Quarter-bound in red cloth over red paper-covered boards. 8vo. Boards worn and faded, rubbed all round edges, rounding at corners and spine ends, some shelf wear. Front free endpaper paper absent. Ex library stamps and annotations on title page, copyright page and rear free endpaper. A few pages dog-eared at corners, and a few signs of use but generally internally clean and tight. A collection of essays on ethnic tensions and challenges in Sri Lanka, most originally penned the mid 1970s, in a period before the Tiger Liberation became prominent.
