First edition, first impression. 280pp. In red cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on spine. 8vo. Small indentation in cloth at head of spine. Previous owner's name neatly inked on front free endpaper, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original, slightly worn, dust wrapper, a little rubbed on edges and corners, nicked at head of a slightly faded spine.
Daphne du Maurier's historical romance which recounts a fictionalised version of the story of her great-great grandmother, Mary Anne Clarke, and her affair she with Frederick, Duke of York (the Grand Old Duke of York of nursery rhyme fame).
