First edition. xxii, 394, [2], with monochrome plate frontispiece and 46 further illustrations. In red buckram cloth binding with gilt titles on the spine. Cartographic endpapers. Large 8vo. Cloth is a little rubbed and rounded on corners and ends of a sunned spine, bumped on lower leading corner. Internally a hint of page aging else neat, clean, bright and tight.
A sturdy and robust volume. A full account of pirates and piracy along the New England coast during the heyday of piracy, including the exploits of infamous pirates such as John Rhodes, William Kidd, John Quelch, Henry Morgan, Thomas Pound, Thomas Tew, Ned Low and others.
