Complete in six volumes. Each volume bound in full green morocco leather with gilt lettering front and spine. Black endpapers, all edges gilt. 32mo. All six volumes neat, clean, bright and tight throughout. House in a custom wooden box, lined inside and out in a combination of leather, silk and canvas. The box is heavily worn, rubbed, scuffed and marked. The lid is detached and very heavily faded to brown, again rubbed and scuffed. The box would make a worthy restoration project to show off the beautiful volumes at their best.
Although the set is titled The Complete Works of Shakespeare the volumes in fact contain only Shakespeare's plays and might therefore have better entitled The Complete Plays of Shakespeare.
