First editon.ย  xii, 246, 8pp, with thirty-eight monochrome plate illustrations.ย  Crimson cloth-covered boards with blind stamped titles on front, gilt titles on spine.ย  8vo.ย  Cloth a little faded, rubbed around edges, especially at the head of a lightly sunned spine.ย  Hint of toning and previous owner's name inked on the front paste down, else internally neat, clean and tight. A series of short studies on nature and living things, with perhaps the most distinctive being a chapter on the Gorilla of Sloane Street - an animal imported as a pet from the Gambon in the early 20th century who eventually made a name for himself at a milliner's shop in London's Sloane Street.
