238pp, [2]pp publisher's ads, some full page illustrations. Red cloth-covered boards, gilt titles on spine; top text block edge sprayed red. 8vo. Sun-faded, rubbed corners and spine ends. Top text block edge colour fading, remaining edges tanning and foxing. Endpapers starting to fox and tan; previous owner's name pencilled on front free endpaper; gutters cracked and strained, volume very loose. Otherwise internally neat, clean and bright baring some foxing throughout.
A narrative account, mostly regarding the author's early childhood and young adulthood, revealing much of rural life of ordinary folk in Wiltshire in Victorian times.
