Complete in three volumes.Β First edition, first printings.Β xx, 642pp; xvi, 576pp; xii, 660pp, with tissue-guarded frontispieces, black and white plate illustrations and fold out pedigrees, as called for.Β Uniformly bound in red publisher's cloth with elaborate coloured and gilt monogram on front panel, gilt decorations and lettering.Β Top edges gilt.Β 8vos.Β Β Cloth a little dull, gently rounded at corners, rubbed and rounded at ends of sunned spines.Β Some spotting and toning on fore and lower text block edges.Β Some slightly spotting on first and last few leaves.Β Bookplate of the Hon. Arthur Grenville Fortesque on each front paste, and name Gertrude Fortesque written in. Some faint and occasional spotting.Β A nice set with the patina of age and use.
