New edition. In a later, somewhat utilitarian binding. [1784] [iv] iv, 160, x, 64, plus 51 illustrations on plates, mostly engraved. Quarter bound in leatherette over strong blue cloth-covered boards, speckled text block edges (a little rubbed at corners, a few mild marks, small area of embossing rubbed over at base of front board). Internally neat, clean and tidy barring faint occasional spotting. Grose's Antiquities of England and Wales is a compendium of historical monuments, considered one of the most important antiquarian publications of the 18th century. It was released in just over one hundred parts from 1772 to 1787 and republished in an eight-volume set in 1809. This volume includes Grose's extensive preface, and addendum to preface and covers Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Cheshire, Cornwall, and Cumberland, with maps of each county. A large and heavy volume which will likely incur an additional charge for overseas delivery
