xii, 830pp, with black and white illustrations (most technical drawings) in text. Red cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering front and spine. 8vo. Cloth a little rubbed and rounded on corners and spine ends, sunned over spine. Text block edges darkened and dull. Some light spotted on endpapers only; front paste down has a small bookseller's ticket at base; rear paste down has a large spot mark; otherwise a few rounded page corners else neat, clean, bright and tight.
A mid 20th century treatise on the mining and processing of coal as an industrial process, capturing contemporary practices and equipment, with some exquisite technical drawings.
