A fascinating study of a particularly eventful period in the life of a school.  When E H Goddard became headmaster at Aske's School, Hatcham in 1932 the country was suffering from the privations of the post-depression years and his headmaster ship was to continue through war time and the years of reconstruction and into the Cold War. With a wealth of detail recording the successes and failures of Aske's School, Hatcham, it also provides an insight into its evolution in a changing social environment.
