Book Club edition. 172pp, with a map of the fictional village of Hilary Magna.ย Orange cloth-covered boards with black lettering on the spine.ย 8vo.ย Cloth is rubbed on edges, heavily so at corners and ends of sunned spine, unevenly faded.ย Text block edges toned. Some mild spotting and smudges on endpapers, page faces less than bright else internally neat and clean.ย Slightly shaken.
George Bellairs was the pen name of Harold Blundell (1902-1982), a crime writer and banker who also wrote under the name Hilary Landon.ย Most of his books featured Detective Inspector Thomas Littlejohn - the first Littlejohn story, Littlejohn on Leave, was published in 1941.ย This is the third in the series.
