The Lord of the Rings (The Fellowship of the Ring; The Two Towers; The Return of the King) (Three Volumes, Boxed Set)

An edition first issued in 1977, reissued in different binding in 1990.  This is a first printing of that reissue.  460pp, with frontispiece, line drawings in text and maps on endpapers; 432pp, with frontispiece, line drawings in text and maps on endpapers; 488pp, with  frontispiece, line drawings in text and maps on endpapers.  All three volumes set with Libra Display, printed on Monument wove paper and bound in full elephant hide* with colour metallic rings as decorations on upper panels and red metallic lettering on the spine.  All three volumes are neat, clean, bright and tight throughout barring a short and mild ripple in the spine of The Return of the King.  Housed in a bespoke red slipcase with gilt lettering; slipcase is just a little shelf worn and hint of fading on the edges framing the opening. *Elephant hide is a grained paper similar to parchment, not the skin of an elephant!
