Boschwitz (1915-1942) left his native Germany for Oslo and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris, and wrote two novels.ย  He settled in England in 1939 but was interned, despite his Jewish background, as an enemy alien and subsequently shipped to Australia.ย  He was allowed to return to England but his ship was torpedoed by a German submarine and he was killed, along with all 362 passengers.
