xviii, 456pp, numerous black and white illustrations and one 2 colour fold out map. Terracotta cloth-covered boards with gilt text on spine and gilt elephant on front. Very minor rounding to heel of spine. Dust jacket shows sign of shelf wear, minuscule tear at head of spine on verso. Previous owner's name on front free ned paper. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Facsimile reproduction of the first edition from 1881, written in an era when Ivory was the chief commodity. Spans nine years of the author's hunting and travels both sides of the Zambezi. 8vo
