First edition, first impression. 248pp, with black and white plate illustrations. Purple cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on spine. Grey endpapers. Top edge sprayed red. 8vo. Cloth is worn and faded, gently rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends. Unsprayed text block edges a little spotted. Previous owner's faint stamp on front free endpapers. Some strip tanning on endpapers, and rear free endpaper has a crease along the fore edge, else internally neat, clean and bright. In its original worn and torn dust wrappers, showing some delamination, rubbed, nick and bumped at edges, with short closed tear at base of spine.
