The Armour Book in Honcho-Gunkiko

First edition, first printing.  132pp, with numerous black and white plate and in text illustrations.  Green cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on the spine.  8vo.  Cloth very slightly rubbed and rounded at spine ends, a couple of minor indentations and tiny marks on front panel.  Internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  In its original glossy dust wrapper, price clipped, a little shelf worn, gently bumped on extreme edges and some waviness, likely from compression. The Sword Book from the Honcho-Gunkiko was published with additional material by Henri L Joly, under the title Sword and Same in 1913. This volume is made up for the nine volumes of that larger work which deal with armour and military clothing worn in Japan up to around 1550, with some additional notes.
