Leese (1878-1956) was a prominent veterinary expert on camels, a fascist politician and a virulent anti-semite. He led the Imperial Fascist League and was a prolific author of fascist polemics in the early half of the 20th century.ย His extreme views led to his imprisonment in the UK in the 1930s and he mentored junior fascists such as Colin Jordan and John Tyndall, thus inspiring organisations such as the White Defence League and the National Socialist Movement in the latter part of the century.ย Out of Step is a two-part autobiographical effort, the first half recalling his experiences as a vet and the second his role as political activist.
