First edition, first impression.  386pp.  Black cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering to spine.  Red endpapers.  8vo.  Upper text block edge dust darkened, and slight spotting on remaining edges.  Gift inscription, dated 1998, on the front free endpaper.  Hint of creaminess to pages else volume is neat, clean and tight throughout.  In its original dust wrapper, a little bumped along extreme upper edge, very slightly shelf worn.
