First edition, first impression. xii, 326pp, with portrait plate frontispiece and further black and white plate illustrations interleafed in text. Black cloth-covered boards, gilt letting to spine. 8vo. Cloth a little marked, gently rubbed on extreme corners and spine tips. Two previous owner's names inked on front free endpaper, one crossed through, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Jenny Lind (1820-1887), known as the Swedish Nightingale, was a 19th century opera soprano and one of the most highly regarded and internationally popular performers of her era. Queen Victoria attended all 16 of Lind's debut performances on the London stage.
