128pp, some in-text black and white illustrations. Blue cloth-covered boards; gilt titles on spine. 8vo. Rubbed spine ends. Top text block edge foxing and starting to tan, remaining edges just starting to tan. Endpapers just starting to tan; previous owner's name on front free endpaper. Dust jacket spine sun-faded, has light shelf wear and chipping to edges, mirrors book damage, not price clipped. Bronwen Naish (born 1938) is a Welsh musician, music teacher and politican.ย  having played the cello for many years, at the age of 26, following the birth of her fifth child, she took up playing the double bass. At the peak of her musical career in the 1960s and 1970 she was the only female viol bass player in the world and one of the most progressive players of the instrument.ย  She was invited to write a biographical account of her career as a bassist in the early 1980s.ย  She protested that she did not know to write a book but was advised 'jsut write exactly the same way as you talk'.ย  The result is was 'Another String to my Bow', a light, sometimes hilarious account of how to blaze a trail on the the double bass whilst also being a single mother to five children.
