First edition, first impression.  xii, 274pp, with black and white illustrations in text.  Orange cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on the spine.  8vo.  Cloth a little pushed in at spine ends.  There is a small, dark mark on the front free endpaper else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  In its original glossy, illustrated dust jacket, unevenly faded, bumped and rubbed on edges, with some delamination on rear panel. A collection of edited essays examining the growth of city suburbs - chiefly Bromley, Acton and Ealing, Headingley and North Leeds, and Bexley - largely in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
