The Army of the Future

[1940]  First English language edition, first printing.  160pp, with monochrome plate frontispiece, further monochrome plates interleafed in text and a map.  Red cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on the spine. 12mo.  Cloth is tired and lightly marked, gently rounded at corners, rubbed at ends of a heavily sunned spine.  Text block edges  toned.  Internally endpapers and pages are a little browned, and some pages have bumped corners.  A good reading/reference copy which is complete, firmly bound and square. First published in French in 1934, this work of General Charles de Gaulle proved prophetic.  de Gaulle, outlines Germany's  military strength set against what he saw as France's comparative weakness, leaving his country open to invasion.   He sets out the military   measures he believed necessary to strengthen  France   His warning was  disregarded by France.
