Four large, folding, coloured plans, one each of Dover Castle, The Tower of London, The Medieval Palace of Westminster and Windsor Castle, produced to accompany the monumental work, The History of the King's Works - the story of public building in England from the Middle Ages up to the middle of the 19th century, when the Office of the King's Works finally became a ministry accountable to Parliament - which was produced in six volumes in the 1970s (these plans, effectively, form the seventh volume). Presented in a bespoke box, bound and decorated to match the volumes in the series, with gilt lettering to spine (box a little worn and faded, gently rubbed at corners and edges, call number on spine, a few mild marks). The plans are in pristine condition - bright, clean, flat - barring a small stamp on the reverse of each one indicating they were once in the collection of Skipton Public Library.
