Britain's Cold War began in 1945, after the fall of Nazi Germany.  The country became a mini-fortress whose protection was considered mandatory by the Pentagon,  Redundant RAF stations soon became home to A-10s, Phantoms and American nuclear weapons; while the British Government embarked on its own defence, developing missile sites, radar installations, civilian bunker networks and its own nuclear deterrent.  Bob Clarke provides an armchair tour of Britain's Cold War, visiting installations and sites that put the UK at the front line of the Cold War.
