The Naked Lunch (Advance Readers Copy)

Likely an advance readers' copy of William Burrough's beat masterpeice, The Naked Lunch, or possibly a late proof. Given the speed with which the manuscript was prepared for publication - Olympia Press gave Burrough's just ten days - the former seems more likely. 114pp (two pages of the final text on each leaf). Wrapped in tan card, punched through and interlaced with red fabric ribbon. The leaves appear to be photographic reproductions of proof pages. Title page features to the border which appeared in the first edition in green. The front wrapper has been printed (stamped?) with Burrough's calligraphic designs which later appeared on the dust wrapper of the first edition. Wrappers a little faded, toned at edges and some mild marks on verso. Mild rubbing at edges, internally neat and clean. Oblong 8vo.
