The Victoria County History (VCH) was founded in 1899 as a national project to provide a history of each county in England, with the blessing of Queen Victoria who permitted her name to be given to the project.  The VCH aims to complete encyclopaedic histories of each county from earliest archaeological records to the present day.  Some volumes in the series were published over a century ago and others are still added to the series.   This volumes covers Henley parish and borough, and the parishes of Bix, Harpsden, Rotherfield Greys and Rotherfield Peppard.
