Complete in 14 volumes.  All volumes in cloth binding with gilt lettering on the spine.  8vos.  Slight traces of dustiness to text block edges and a hint of creaminess to pages in some volumes, else all volumes are neat, clean, square and tight throughout.  All in their original glossy dust wrappers, not price clipped, gently rubbed on extreme edges and a tad sunned over spines, but remaining generally crisp and vibrant. The work was positively received by many historians (including some of those in the Soviet Union itself) and commentators but considered negatively by cold war Kremlinologists.  The Encyclopedia Britannica called it 'magisterial' and John Keep called it a 'towering scholarly monument'.  Carr later distilled his work into one short work, The Russian Revolution, from Lenin to Stalin, 1917-1929, but his monumental set remains the most detailed and authoritative work on the period.
