First printing. 302pp. Paperback, in stiff card covers, with keyhole cut out (covers a little worn and rubbed at edge, reading crease). Early page a little warped, suggesting some minor exposure. Mild page toning, as expected. Firmly bound. Hard to find title. Deighton compiled the most exciting and appetizing guide to London of its time, recruiting fourteen of London's informed residents to contribute reports on their particular areas. Amusingly written, much is included that other guides leave out, such as where to hire a barrel organ, or where to eat snake steaks, or where to get a shave in the middle of the night. The dust jacket is now protected in an archival-quality mylar wrapper, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives. Leonard Cyril Deighton is a British author whose works include cookery books, history and military history, but he is best known for his spy novels, including the series featuring the unnamed Harry Palmer. We have many books by Len Deighton in stock, including early, limited and first editions. Please inquire for discounts on multiple titles.
