xxvi, 434pp. Decorated black cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering to spine and gilded upper page edges. Presentation plate on ffep indicating that this volume was present to Birmingham Medical Institute by one Mr Darling. The Institute's stamp also appears on the title page. Boards rubbed at edges and frayed and thinning at head and heal of backstrip. Firm and tight binding. Pages clean and crisp with just a hint of tanning at edges. This 2nd edition contains considerably more information than the first edition of 1879.
