The Waves is considered to be Woolf's most experimental novel follows its six narrators Bernard, Susan, Rhoda, Neville, Jinny, and Louis from childhood through adulthood and explores concepts of individuality, self and community. The characters are believed to be based on people known to Woolf. The book was ranked 16th in the BBC's greatest British novel ever written.
