First edition, first impression. 48pp, eight colour plates and 21 further black and white illustrations. Printed paper-covered boards. Lightly chipped on edges. Hint of spotting and toning on endpapers, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Very slightly cocked. Dust jacket rubbed at edges, slightly scuffed at spine tips. The dust jacket is now protected in a Brodart-style sleeve, fitted without the use of tape of adhesives. 8vo. The Britain in Pictures series is a fascinating insight into British social history of the second world war period. These attractive, slim volumes were produced to be affordable and readable, with the aim of boosting morale and national pride by highlighting elements of national identity which made Britain Great.
