First edition, first printing. 180pp, illustrated with engravings on wood by John Hassell, occasional page decorations, Cookcoo Eye maps of Monk's Norton, Worcester, on endpapers. In dark blue cloth-covered boards with gilt motif on front panel and gilt titles on spine (cloth gently rubbed on extreme corners, lightly rounded at title tips, very slightly cocked). Some spotting to endpapers and first and last pages, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. The Story of a Village, Monk's Norton in Worcestershire, which exists nowhere other than in the author's imagination.
