Volumes uniformly bound in strong, brown buckram cloth with blind embossed decorations front and spine, gilt titles on spine. All edges gilt. Tall 8vos. Boards a little rubbed at edges, rubbed and rounded on corners and spine ends, spine a little sunned, a few minor marks. Internally there's a little, occasional scattered spotting and, in volume two, an armorial bookplate on the front paste down, indicating that the volume was once in the possession of Colonel C A G Wallington. Wallington (died 1867) was a military officer with the East India Company, serving with the Bengal Infantry. A collection of illustrations inspired by Sir Walter Scott's Waverley novels, with textual commentary.
