First edition. 254pp. Black cloth-covered boards with red and white lettering to spine. 8vo. Lightly rubbed and rounded spine ends. Some light marks to rear board. Corners rubbed and rounded. Text block edges lightly foxed, fore edge untrimmed. Red endpapers with small tear along rear hinge. Internally neat clean, bright and tight barring the occasional mark. Dust jacket has considerable wear with tears and rubbing along both side edges, tear along the front joint and water mark to the bottom of the spine, chipping along edges, not price clipped. This provocative novel from Evan Hunter captures the suspenseful agony of a man, a family and a nation perched on the panicky edge of dissolution.
