Book slightly skewed, rounding of the corners and minor bumping to the bottom edge of book and spine tail. Slight rubbing to spine head. Text block edges are tanned with some stains to the fore edge. Some tanning to the front and rear free endpapers, otherwise neat, clean tight and bright. Dust jacket is heavily tanned with some staining to the front of dust jacket. There are some short tears around the spine head with some loss. Some rubbing to the top edge and corners with minor loss. A collection of letters between Balzac and his good friend Madame Zulma Carraud, capturing Balzac's career and feelings demonstrating sincerity and integrity.
