[1931]. 72pp, plate frontispiece, plus four further plate illustrations, occasional page decorations. In brown cloth boards, decorated, with tipped in colour illustration on front panel. 12mo. Boards a little rubbed and rounded on corners and spine ends, light spotting on text block edges. Prize presentation plate on front free endpaper, indicating that the volume was awarded to Robin Rutherford in May 1947 for good attendance at The Children's Meeting at the Village Hall in Haughley. Faint and occasional spotting on first and last few pages, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. An attractive and pleasing vintage volume containing an account of the history of the Bible, with chapters on the Bible in War-time, At the British Museum, the growth and spread of the Bible across many lands, Babylon and the British Museum, Hezekiah the King etc. Aimed at younger readers.
