Reissue. xii, 274pp. Tissue-guarded plate frontispiece and 12 drawings by Patten Wilson. In deep red cloth-covered boards with black lettering on front and gilt titles on spine. Cloth a little darkened, lightly rubbed on edges, slightly rounded at spine ends. Spotting on text block edges. Prize presentation plate, dated 1911, on front paste down endpaper, and a little toning to endpapers. Mild spotting throughout. A collection of essays, several of which previously appeared in periodicals and journals, on animal behaviour and other nature and wildlife matters. Essays include Thirsty Birds, Animal Dependence on Weather, How Animals Learnt to Climb, Road-making Animals, The Fauna of the Railroad, Crossbills at Work, The Mind of the Gardening Ant etc.
