118pp, with numerous colour, plate and monochrome illustrations. In paper-covered boards with linen over spine, red titles on paper label on front panel. Decorative endpapers. 8vo. Boards rubbed and chipped at edges, rubbed through and rounded at corners and spine ends, mildly marked. Text block8 edges toned. Some mottled toning and spotting to first few leaves, else internally neat, clean and tight. Gift inscription on front free endpaper verso and previous owner's name on pencilled on next leaf. A charming and enlightening collection of essay and memories regarding the theatre, with numerous exquisite and diverse illustrations. Literary contributors include Sidney Dark, Charles Morgan, Edward Carrick Ernst Stern, H F Rubenstein, Junius etc. Decorations and illustrations provided by Tom-Titt, William Nicholson, Althea Willoughby, Vera Willoughby, J H Dowd and others including Edward Bawden whose 24 page coloured calendar appears at the end of the volume. An evocative volume. Hard to find.
