Brodart-style sleeve
Dust jackets(s) with a Brodart-style, paper-backed, protective sleeve fitted by previous owner.
First edition, second impression (in the same year as first publication). 138pp, with a coloured frontispiece and further line drawings, some full page and some in text, all by Cecil Aldin. Maps illustrating the story on endpapers. In red cloth boards with black titles on spine. 8vo. Boards a little rounded and faded spine ends. a tad faded along extreme upper edge. Top text block edge dust darkened. Previous owner's name neatly on slightly toned endpapers, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original dust jacket, a little rubbed and chipped at corners and spine ends, with short crack on leading edge. Dust jacket also by Cecil Aldin. Dust jacket now protected in a Brodart-style clear wrapper, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives. Original promotional book banner, proclaiming Jerry as the successor to Black Beauty, loosely laid in, together with a slip from the publishers. A remarkably well-preserved children's book from the 1930s, presents well.
