First edition, first impression. 256pp. In royal blue cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine. 12mo. Strong and clean boards, small indentation on lower edge, a little rounded at spine ends. Upper text block edge a little dust dulled. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original bright and clean dust jacket, very slightly bruised at spine ends, shelf wear visible on verso. Dust jacket now protected in a Brodart-style sleeve, fitted without the use of tape or adhesives. A book about the masters at a public school, this is a problem novel. Full of Humour, zestful and dramatic, it challenges the reader to ask if they could have done better if they'd been there.
