Undated but circa 1945. 246pp, with colour plate frontispiece and seven further colour plates, some full page black and white illustrations and charming line drawings in text , all by Rene Cloke. In green cloth-covered boards with deeper green titles front and spine. Decorated endpapers. 4to. Boards very gently rubbed and rounded at corners and spine tips. Light spotting on text block edges. Very slightly loosened. There is a small closed tear, less than an inch, at the top of the title page and even smaller one at the base, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Lovely vintage edition of this children's classic, complete with glorious illustrations by Rene Cloke.
