First edition.  viii, 270pp, with occasional black and white plate illustrations.  In red cloth-coverd boards with gilt lettering on spine.  8vo.  Cloth is lightly worn and a little rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends.  Mild toning to text block edges.  Prize presentation plate, indicating the volume was presented to Brenda Burdett by Claredon House County Grammar School in Ramsgate in 1955, on the front paste down.  else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original illustrated dust wrapper. Jacket is worn, lightly rubbed and chapped at edges, a little warped, and bumped along upper edge.
